Indoor Stalls

Compared to traditional construction, indoor stalls or partition walls for barns have achieved an enormous popularity. This is understandable, since their use offers substantial advantages:

  • You can make the most of already existing buildings and, in other cases, building an open plan barn will enhance the estate’s residual value. If the land were sold or the activity changed, the stalls could be easily disassembled and sold, and the barn could be used for any other activity.
  • Their installation is very quick.
  • A stable with indoor stalls can gradually be developed, adding elements according to need and without affecting daily activity.
  • The space available can be used to its maximum possibilities.
  • The mental health of the animals improves because they are in closer contact with one another.
  • Visually, the stable is much more appealing.
  • Less labour is required on a daily basis.

Anyone who demands a lot of their horses must also demand a lot of their stables. If you expect your horses to make a considerable effort, you must reward them with the quality of rest and attention they require. Their house, their stall, must be spacious, well illuminated and ventilated, safe, insulated, and easy to muck out and clean. And above all, it must be strong and resistant to any of the horse’s sudden impacts. This is the type of high-quality indoor stalls that CORTON produces.

Boxes interioresThe designs and materials used by CORTON have been carefully thought out for use with horses. In LUPA, we have extensive experience in manufacturing and building all types of facilities all over the world. We chose CORTON stalls for the Barcelona ’92 Olympics; we also used CORTON products to build different facilities for several Spanish official entities (Spain’s Ministry of Defence, of Domestic Affairs, its National Heritage, etc.); and many of our private customers are currently enjoying the quality of CORTON.

CORTON horse stalls are the fruit of many years of research, product development and experience. They are made of independent partition walls which may be disassembled and reassembled at any time. These partitions consist of a closed steel frame. The frame has an exclusive double flange profile design which gives it an unbreakable rigidity, resisting considerable lateral forces. As all steel components of CORTON stables, the frame is hot dip galvanized in accordance with NEN and ISO 1461 standards.

Front walls and inner partitions are finished with special care, always smooth, without any sharp edges which may hurt the horse. The materials used, the size of the stalls, the thickness of the panels, the distance between the bars, etc… it has all been carefully studied. Nothing is left to chance. Everything has been carefully planned and manufactured to give your horses the maximum safety and security. Front walls can be equipped with a swinging or sliding door, and the panels are reinforced at the top by a steel rail; the lower section consists of tongue and groove boards made of recycled plastic, first-class long-fibre tropical hardwood, or bamboo, while the upper section consists of steel bars. Partitions and back panels can also consist of boards and bars, or be completely closed, with boards on both the lower and upper parts, or have a mixed upper section (a part with bars and another part fully closed)…

Boxes interiores en construcciónCORTON only settles for the best. They use only recycled plastic or first-class long-fibre tropical hardwood, or compressed bamboo. Recycled plastic, with a homogeneous finish and UV-ray-resistant, was first used in veterinary hospitals that required a non-porous material, where no bacteria could penetrate and which was indifferent to water and other disinfectants. The most demanded colours are black, brown and grey, but stalls can be supplied in any other colour of the RAL chart, with a small extra charge. The compressed bamboo or tropical hardwood boards offer an excellent appearance and are highly resistant to horses’ actions due to their density and hardness. All four sides of the boards are planed and have tongue and groove joints. We may supply them already treated with Lasur. In all the models, the boards, once installed, may be substituted at any time.

From the very first day, CORTON has used a solid profile for the frame, which enables to immediately and firmly secure the interlocking hardwood panelling. The inward-facing double flanges provide the firm stiffness required to absorb the considerable lateral forces horses can produce. With time, our competitors have copied this type of profile, so in 2004 we started to use a new exclusive design: the double profile, which provides a greater degree of resistance that makes it better than any other. Nowadays, we use simple profiles, which are perfectly valid anyway, only for our Standard model.

Perfil profesional de ensamblaje de boxes interioresCORTON manufactures two types of stalls that we could describe as: of normal use and design stalls. Within each of these categories, several models exist with their own particular features. The frame’s manufacturing process is equally demanding for all of them: they are made of steel through an automated process; then they are hot dip galvanized on the outside and the inside in accordance with NEN and ISO 1461 standards, and they are brushed up to remove any potentially injuring sharp edges. If the client has chosen painted stalls, the panels are then painted or coated with several layers of the chosen colour over the galvanized coating. This process guarantees the long life of all materials even if they are in contact with moisture and/or organic wastes.

Our extensive experience in manufacturing and building different types of facilities offers our customers an additional guarantee. Below, we present the most demanded models of indoor CORTON stalls, though there are others and also plenty of options to customize your facilities. Although there are several standard sizes, we can conform to your project and supply stalls made-to-measure. With all this information and after seeing the different models, you will be able to imagine what we can offer you. If you wish to receive more information, please contact us and we will send you a specific catalogue and a detailed no obligation estimate, including labour, transportation, delivery-time and installation costs.
