American Barns

American-style barns are highly functional in very rainy or very cold places, where all the basic lounging work and everything apart from riding must be done indoors. They are also useful when working with a large number of animals, since inside stalls are practical and save quite a lot of work, as we will see later.

SCOTTS's American barns have been carefully designed taking into account a variety of aspects: equestrian, structural, climatic and aesthetic.

The structure and outside finish are based on SCOTTS’s experience with outdoor stables and keep in line with their high quality. These barns have eaves on both sides which offer greater protection and more storage space; a roof with a ventilated peak which allows for a better airflow and for more light to enter, making the inside feel bigger and the ceilings taller. The standard roofing is made with lacquered metal sheets, insulating material and ignifugous panels.

The barn has a 3-meter-wide central aisle with stalls on either side. The stalls are 3-metre wide and 3.6-metre deep, and are built with walls of galvanized metal and tropical hardwood which are fixed to the barn’s pillars. There are several designs of indoor stalls.

On the outdoor longitudinal wall, we can install half-doors or laminated windows on each stall, and double entry doors on one or both ends of the barn.

The inside of the barn can be designed to meet the customer’s needs, including tack-rooms, an office, toilets and other elements.

In areas with a mild climate, we build barns with indoor stalls by CORTON. These can be installed back-to-back or they may form the typical American barn with an aisle down the centre.

The outdoor walls are made of the stalls’ walls themselves to which we add a galvanized steel frame and a roofing, with or without insulation, external eaves and sliding doors to close the aisle. And, of course, tack-rooms and wash areas can also be installed.

We say that this type of barn is more appropriate for areas with milder climates because only the roof will be insulated, not the walls. Obviously, the price is notoriously lower.
